Green Week at Purdue

Purdue Student Government, the Sustainability Working Group, and the Boiler Green Organizations will celebrate Green Week 2025 on Oct. 18-25. Events listed below are open to the West Lafayette campus community, including students, faculty and staff. Registration is not required unless otherwise noted.

The West Lafayette campus celebrates Green Week – a campus initiative to promote and share sustainable practices – in October with a variety of free events that are open to the campus community.

Events

  • Saturday, October 18th

    De-Trash the Wabash: De-Trash the Wabash is a biannual volunteer event focused on removing trash and restoring the health of the mighty Wabash River. Volunteers walk in parks and along trails near the river, removing abandoned bikes, old appliances, tires, clothing, traffic cones, and other debris in order to improve water quality. This event will take place from 9 a.m - 12 p.m.

  • Wednesday, October 22nd

    Silver house, the Hi-Fi lab, and HonorServes are coordinating a Pumpkin carving event. The pumpkins to be donated to Nitches Land Trust - Students will not be able to carve pumpkins they can keep.

  • Thursday, October 23rd

    Fall Into Nature: Join the Purdue Department of Forestry and Natural Resources (FNR) for an engaging evening at Horticulture Park on Thursday, October 23rd from 4-7 PM, featuring guided nature hikes and a variety of other fun nature-related activities. Food will be provided. Vegetarian and vegan options available. This event is open to all members of the Purdue community.

  • Purdue Student Government

    Serving as the primary representative organization of the undergraduate student body, Purdue Student Government seeks to act as a liaison between the Purdue University administration, governmental authorities, and the student body in order to serve the needs of Purdue students and to enhance the student experience at Purdue University.

  • Purdue Campus Sustainability Working Group (SWG)

    At Purdue, ISF organized an initial Campus Sustainability Working Group in spring 2024. This group included interested staff and faculty who worked to ensure the success of the first “State-wide Campus Sustainability Networking Workshop” supported by ISF.

  • Purdue Department of Forestry and Natural Resources

    Purdue’s Department of Forestry and Natural Resources (FNR) is one of the leading natural resources programs in the nation. FNR is Indiana’s only degree-granting, research and extension institution in the fields of forestry, wildlife ecology and aquatic sciences.
